UPDATE: So who is the Northampton clown? Well a video posted on youtube shows a guy called Alex Powell starring in a mockumentary about a local clown.
And here is a still from the video: that looks quite like one of the pictures below.
ORIGINAL STORY: A clown resembling Stephen King’s Pennywise has been spotted hanging around Northampton carrying balloons, a teddy and waving sadly at passers by. One report even says he knocked at a resident’s house and offered to paint it, despite not having any paint.

On his facebook group the clown insists he is benign. His makeup seems to tell a different story.
